Alberta Student Number (ASN)

The Alberta Student Number (ASN) is an important tool in every learner’s educational journey. It is a unique number assigned to each Alberta learner, and allows students to

  • obtain their Alberta High School transcripts
  • apply for post-secondary studies in Alberta (universities, colleges, technical institutes, apprenticeship programs)
  • apply for post-secondary funding (loans, grants, scholarships, and bursaries)
  • apply for post-secondary funding from Alberta, if studying outside the province.

Students can find their ASN

  • online at the Learner Registry
  • on any Alberta report card from Kindergarten to Grade 12
  • on a Diploma Examination Results Statement from Alberta Education
  • on a High School Transcript of Achievement
  • on a Detailed Academic Report from Alberta Education

If you are new to Alberta and don't have an ASN you will need to access the Learner Registry and create one.

Learn more about the Alberta Student Number (ASN) on the Alberta Education website.
